**If you are applying for a renewal of a current LTC or FID please do not submit the application for renewal any sooner than 90 days from expiration**
License to Carry Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age
- You must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
- You must apply for a resident firearms license to carry or firearms identification card through the police department in the town where you reside. You MUST be a resident of the Town of Auburn and/or business owner in the Town of Auburn

- If you are seeking a license to carry for employment purposes, a letter from your employer typed on company letterhead must accompany your application
- All applications must be dropped off with the appropriate fee (checks made payable to the Town of Auburn). Once the application is reviewed, new applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
- Applicants who apply online using the portal are required to drop off their fee and a SIGNED "page 4" prior to their application being processed. It will sit in the que until the fee arrives.
Firearm Identification Card Requirements:
- You must be 15 years of age and must be accompanied by a legal guardian up until the age of 18.

Both LTC and FID applications:
- If you have appeared in court for any criminal offense, or if you were the subject of a 209A Restraining Order, you must obtain and submit copies of police reports, 209A affidavits and court documents.
- You may not have any outstanding warrants against you.
- You may not be the defendant of a current restraining order, suspension or surrender order.
- You must wait five years if you have been treated or confined for drug addiction or alcoholism and submit an affidavit from a registered physician stating that you have been cured.
- Submit an affidavit from a registered physician if you have been confined to a hospital or institution for mental illness. The affidavit must state that that the physician is familiar with your condition and that in their opinion there is no reason why you should not possess a handgun, rifle or shotgun.
** When completing your application, pay close attention to Question #4. Please understand that the question "Have you ever been arrested or appeared in any court as a defendant for any criminal offense" includes all adult and juvenile appearances. The outcome does not matter. You must indicate the charges even if the charges were dismissed, or you believe they are “sealed.”
